Cavaliers strike early with 2008 commitment

It didn't take long for the Virginia Cavaliers to land their first commitment in the 2008 recruiting class. Sept. 1 was the first day that colleges could extend written offers to junior prospects. One of the scholarship offers received last Friday was met with so much excitement that the player called Al Groh shortly after to inform the UVa head coach that he would like to verbally commit to the Cavaliers.


Cleveland, Ohio, Gilmour Academy offensive tackle Matt Mihalik (6-foot-7, 265 pounds, 5 seconds) received his written offer from the Cavaliers on Friday and committed later that day.
