Hassan Childs picks the Pack

Three-star cornerback Hassan Childs has not seen NC State in person yet, but he's had enough people tell him about the school and the team that he felt comfortable enough to pull the trigger and commit to NC State on Saturday night.

"I talked to my mom about it, we prayed about it and I talked to my family members, and they told me that it's a great school," he said. "I talked to Coach Mike Reed a lot, basically every week. I just thought that now would be a good time.

"I had a lot of people tell me about NC State, I trust what my friends and family had to say about. Nobody has ever told me anything bad about it. They have told me that they see me there at North Carolina State, they can see me in that type of environment."

The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder thinks NC State views him as a cornerback, but there is a slight chance he ends up at safety. What wasn't in doubt, though, was his relationship with defensive backs coach Mike Reed.

"I thought Coach Reed was a great coach and a great person, as well," he said. "Every time we talked, it wasn't just about football, it was about personal life, school, what was going on in the community, what was going on in North Carolina. It was like a bond, we're bonded together."

Childs plans to visit Raleigh for the first time in late July.

The Wolfpacker will have more on this breaking story later.
