FSU presents different kind of challenge
Florida State might be one of the few teams in college basketball that gets better when the Seminoles turns to its bench.
FSU is led by the one-two bench duo of senior combo guard Ian Miller, a former Charlotte United Faith standout, and sophomore wing Aaron Thomas, who played with NCSU sophomore small forward Aaron Thomas at Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy. The potent wings play at NC State at 9 p.m. Wednesday at PNC Arena.
Miller averages 13.1 points and is shooting 34.8 percent from three-point land, and Thomas is right behind him at 12.5 points per game and 42.4 percent from beyond the arc. Thomas has the lone start between the two of them due to power forward Okaro White getting benched.
FSU, who is 13-6 overall and 4-3 in the ACC, uses a nine-man rotation that also includes sophomore center Michael Ojo and freshman power forward Jarquez Smith.
NC State coach Mark Gottfried mentioned that the Seminoles can change the complexion of the game when Miller and Thomas are summoned off the bench.
