NC State's Carlos Rodon and Trea Turner highlighted the Perfect Game Preseason All-America first team, published Monday by Kendall Rogers.
Rodon and Turner represent the only ACC players listed on the first team, and two of the three youngest members of the first team, joining sophomore Michael Conforto of Oregon State.
The mentions mark the second time this year that the Wolfpack has boasted two first team All-Americans from a single publication, the only two occurrences in program history. In 1997, Clay Eason and Tom Sergio were each named first team All-America performers by separate publications.
Rodon enters his sophomore season with an undefeated 9-0 record and a 1.57 career ERA. The left-hander won the ACC's Pitcher and Freshman of the Year awards in 2012, and became the first Division I freshman to make the finals of the Golden Spikes Award.
Turner earned his selection at shortstop, and awaits the chance to shatter the Wolfpack record for stolen bases after leading the nation with 57 in 2012 (16 shy of the NC State career record). The Lake Worth, Fla. native added a .336 batting average and five home runs to his base-stealing prowess during his freshman campaign, enough to warrant a consensus freshman All-America mention.
NC State takes the diamond for the first time in 2013 on February 15 for a three-game series against Appalachian State at Doak Field at Dail Park. Season tickets are on sale, with more information available by following the links at the top of this page.
