In 2008, NC State swept through all four of the in-state FBS football programs, defeating East Carolina and Wake Forest at home and Duke and UNC on the road.
They may get their chance to do that again in 2013. The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 2013 league opponents for each team. The Pack has added a road game at Duke to its slate as one of its two crossover contests with the Coastal Division.
NC State will host likely ACC favorite Clemson and archrival UNC in addition to Maryland and Syracuse. It will likely be the last time the Terps play in Carter-Finley Stadium as an ACC member.
The Pack will play at Wake Forest, Duke, Florida State and Boston College. The non-conference schedule will include home games with Louisiana Tech, East Carolina, Central Michigan and Richmond.
"I am very excited to host eight home games here at Carter Finley Stadium in 2013," head coach Dave Doeren said. "The home field advantage that exists in our great stadium is a true blessing. We know that building a championship caliber program will require signing highly-skilled student-athletes, as well as winning on the road and taking care of business at home. Recruiting will be especially important, since a number of starters from 2012 have completed their eligibility. We know that we will be truly tested with the games we have in front of us."
State is expected to open the year against Louisiana Tech, who will be coached by former ECU coach Skip Holtz.
The full schedule however is not likely to be released until February.
The Wolfpack's spring practices will begin for NC State on March 24 and, as The Wolfpacker has previously reported, the annual Kay Yow Spring Football Game on Saturday, April 20. The game time will be announced in the coming weeks.
