Havelock (N.C.) High running back Derrell Scott has long been on the radar of colleges.
He had his breakthrough campaign as a sophomore when he rushed 179 times for 1,807 yards and 22 touchdowns and caught 17 passes for 235 yards and another score, helping Havelock win a 3-A state title.
As a junior, Scott aided in a Havelock repeat by rushing 181 times for 1,742 yards and 34 touchdowns and grabbing 11 passes for 185 yards and two more scores. Those numbers are even more impressive when you consider that in three different blowout wins last year Scott carried a combined total of 14 times for 179 yards and three touchdowns.
Rivals.com rates Scott as a four-star prospect and No. 141 recruit in the country, and the 5-foot-11, 180-pounder recently updated The Wolfpacker on his recruitment.
